Well, well , well, is it the end of the summer already?
We harvested the pumpkins this week. Luisa and Kate came over yesterday and we carved some wonderful lanterns. Most people still use turnips, but I use pumpkins because my father brought pumpkin seeds back from one of his journeys. They only grow in the New World (and my garden). My mother planted the seeds and was delighted to see them grow into such big vines with such large and useful fruit! She saved the seeds every year and I do the same. My crop is very good this year. I will make pumkin pies and pumpkin bread to bring to the harvest bonfire. Everyone in Dragons Wood will bring home glowing coals to start their winter fires burning. We'll drink pomegranate cider, wear masks and play Bob for Apples. What fun for all!
